Bat Removal and Prevention

Bats are very beneficial mammals. They consume a great number insects nightly close to their roost. Many people do not realize that on any given night there may be almost as many bats as birds during the day. The point where you should call us depends on a few things.

Beaver Removal and Prevention

Beavers are considered a nuisance for two primary reasons: tree cutting and dam building. Tree cutting is undesirable to landowners who want to protect their trees. Dam building is a more serious matter, resulting in flooding forest and farm lands, plugged culverts and the washout of roads.

Bee Removal and Prevention

Westchester Wildlife specializes in the removal of honey bees from residential and commercial properties.

Bird Removal

Bird removal and of pest birds, pigeons, sparrows, woodpeckers, swallows starlings and other birds in Commericial and Residential areas. Our bird services include bird proofing, bird removal and bird trapping.

Chipmunk Removal and Prevention

Chipmunks are considered a nuisance because they may consume flower bulbs, fruits, seeds, and seedlings. When present in large numbers, they can also cause structural damage by burrowing under patios, stairs, retention walls, or foundations.

Coyote Removal and Prevention

Coyotes can cause damage to a variety of resources, including livestock, poultry, and crops. They sometimes prey on pets and are a threat to public health and safety when they frequent airport runways and residential areas, and act as carriers of rabies.

Deer Removal and Prevention

The most common complaint voiced about deer is damage to trees and gardens. The most deadly encounters with deer occur on roadways. Unlike smaller nuisance animals deer cannot be casually eliminated when in conflict with humans.

Fox Removal and Prevention

The Red Fox is very common in suburban areas. The red fox is related to dogs, wolves, and coyotes. They are usually about 7-14 pounds and around 3′ long, not including the tail. The fur of the Red Fox is usually reddish-orange and they can be identified by the white tip on their tail. As one of the larger members in the fox species, they prey on other small mammals.

Groundhog Removal and Prevention

Groundhogs hibernate from October through February, and their breeding season begins soon after they wake up. If you must evict a groundhog from a burrow under your house, porch, or other building, do so shortly after they’ve emerged from hibernation or wait until late summer, after the young have been weaned and are living on their own.

Mice Removal and Prevention

Mice will reside in attics, walls, basements, crawl spaces, or in any living space accessible to them. They can keep you up at night with nocturnal attic noise or noise in walls. Mice will live inside buildings and carry out their breeding and damaging habits year round.

Mole Removal and Prevention

Moles remove many damaging insects and grubs from lawns and gardens. However, their burrowing habits disfigure lawns and parks, destroy flower beds, tear up the roots of grasses, and create havoc in small garden plots.

Muskrat Removal and Prevention

Muskrats get their name due to the strong musky smell they give off during mating season and when marking their territory. Muskrats are related to the rat but look like a beaver. Similar to the beaver, they are fury semi-aquatic rodents that live typically in water.

Pigeon Removal and Prevention

Pigeon removal is also the only way to protect your family, friends, customers and business associates from the possible health risks associated with pigeons. Pigeons can carry a number of different diseases ranging from salmonella, tuberculosis and ornithosis.

Raccoon Removal and Prevention

Raccoons become a nuisance in many ways. They will raid unsecured trash cans, steal pet food left outside, damage fruit and vegetable gardens, and take up residence in your attic or chimney, typically, in the spring time when babies are born.

Rat Removal and Prevention

Rats are adaptable, highly mobile and breed rapidly This combination makes rat treatment in domestic properties a difficult task for the untrained individual. Signs of rat infestation can include the presence of gnawing, droppings, footprints in damp soil, and burrows in the ground. Failing to a rat infestation is not wise?they do not disappear of their own accord.

Shrew Removal and Prevention

Shrews sometimes become a nuisance when they live in or near dwellings. Shrews occasionally fall into window wells, attack pets, attack birds or chipmunks at feeders, feed on stored foods, contaminate stored foods with feces and urine, and bite humans when improperly handled.

Skunk Removal and Prevention

Skunks are primarily nocturnal, and feed on almost anything, including small rodents, worms, insects, grubs, fruit, garbage, and pet food left outdoors. Skunks can spray their powerful scent up to 15 feet, burning an attacker’s eyes, and causes temporary blindness. The only way to remove a skunk is with trapping and relocation.

Snake Removal and Prevention

People often encounter snakes because their property provides good habitat. Like all animals, snakes seek out good places to hunt and hide. Sometimes this includes a person’s property, or even house if there is access. Like many animals, snakes often choose flight before fight, but a startled or provoked snake will certainly defend itself.

Sparrow Removal and Prevention

Sparrows consume grains in fields and in storage. They interfere with the production of livestock, particularly poultry, by consuming and contaminating feed. Because they live in such close association with humans, they are a factor in the dissemination of diseases, internal parasites and household pests.

Squirrel Removal and Prevention

Squirrels have easily adapted to humans. They frequently use buildings as nesting areas. They often find a small opening and will chew a wider hole to gain access to the building. They bring nesting material into the home, and make quite a bit of noise scurrying around in your attic or soffit.

Starling Removal and Prevention

Starlings are a major nuisance in urban areas due to their nesting, eating and living habits. When the bird is in its flocking phase, thousands of starlings often overwhelm urban buildings. Large scale buildup of feces from these flocks will lead to structural damage.

Vole Removal and Prevention

Voles may cause extensive damage to orchards, ornamentals, and tree plantings due to their girdling of seedlings and mature trees.

Wasp Removal and Prevention

Not only can wasps sting over and over again, but if squished or attacked, they release a pheromone in the air that signals other wasps to come help.

Woodchuck Removal and Prevention

Never approach a Woodchuck (also known as a Groundhog), or let one approach you. They can give a very nasty bite and can carry diseases transmissible to pets and potentially to humans. Often the only realistic defense is to trap and relocate them.

Woodpecker Removal and Prevention

Woodpeckers often choose to roost on signs or rafters of commercial buildings. This might not be so bad, except for the fact that they make a horrible mess with their nesting materials and droppings.
